Long Beach (Bai Truong)

Stretching over 20 kilometers along the western coast, the beach is lined with resorts, restaurants, and water activities. Depending on the time of the year, there might not be much sand available. It is potentially my least favorite on this list, but still worth checking out if you are staying around the area.

Duong Beach (Bai Duong)

This beach is part of the Grand World complex and to be honest, is not a bad alternative for a relaxing beach day that can be combined with a cultural and shopping experience at Grand World.

Starfish Beach

If you are a starfish lover, this is your place. The beach has nothing special to offer, and I would personally not get out of the way to go check it, unless you want to see the Starfish.

Best Beach Bars in Phu Quoc

The whole island is full of beach bars, and I had the opportunity to check a few of them.

Rory’s Beach Bar

My absolute favorite beach bar on the island. There are plenty of activities to do and it is a great place to spend a day by the beach.

Draft Beer Bar Khem Phu Quoc

An affordable option, very close to the surrounding hotels. This is the meeting point for tourists and locals around the area.

Oyster Dining & Beach Bar

A slightly pricier option, but still very good if you’re looking for seafood and a place to relax. Also located at Khem Beach.

OCSEN Beach Bar & Club

Located on the West side of Phu Quoc, this is by far one of the best spots on that side of the island. Great food and perfect for cocktails over sunset.

Istanbul Beach Club

My favorite place at Khem Beach. Free sun beds, great food, and very affordable prices. I have eaten here several times and it was always a delight. The staff is also very friendly and food is served in no time.

Where to Stay in Phu Quoc – Find your perfect retreat for your stay

My favorite area on the island was the southwest, near Khem Beach. However, some other great alternatives are the west coast near Rory’s Beach Bar or somewhere near the old town on the east coast, for a more local experience.

JM Boutique Hotel

If I had to go back to one hotel on the island, that’s JM Boutique Hotel. I’ve never felt so comfortable and aligned with the values of a hotel. The incredibly comfortable bed, the eco-friendly practices and efforts, the awesome staff, and the food (oh the food!) were some of the many highlights.

During my stay, I also got a foot bath (they bring the bath right to your room which leaves a beautiful aroma) and I used their kayaks one of the mornings I was staying at JM Boutique Hotel.

Do not hesitate to explore the resort’s dining options, unwind at the spa, and experience the tranquility of the private beach.

Moc Lam Bungalow Phu Quoc

Near the beach and the old town, right in the east coast, you can find the cozy Moc Lam Bungalow. This Bungalow is run by Phuong a local woman who is the heart and soul of this place. Despite being a more budget-friendly alternative. The bungalows are clean, very well taken care of, and equipped with anything you need during your stay.

Hideaway Beach Glamping Camp Phu Quoc

It is no secret that I love a good Glamping spot and when I researched where to stay on the island, I found this cute little place near the ocean and also near one of the best beach bars on the Island (Rory’s Beach Bar).

Hideaway Beach Glamping Camp tents are great, they have comfortable mattresses and very fluffy pillows (a dream!). If you’re looking for a different stay and you like to be close to nature, this is your place.

Best Restaurants in Phu Quoc and Other great food spots on the island

While exploring Phu Quoc, don’t miss the opportunity to savor the island’s diverse culinary offerings. Here’s a glimpse into my dining experience eating all around the island.

Local Food in Phu Quoc

These are some great local options I have tried and recommend.

Dinh Cau Night Market

For a taste of local flavors, head to Dinh Cau Night Market. Sample fresh seafood, grilled specialties, and Vietnamese street food. The lively atmosphere, combined with the delicious offerings, makes it a must-visit dining spot.

Khan Ly Vegetarian Restaurant

A very local eatery with fresh veggies. This is an affordable alternative with delicious food, right in the heart of the old town.

Seafood Restaurants at Ham Ninh Fishing Village

Explore the seafood haven at Ham Ninh Fishing Village, where you can enjoy freshly caught seafood prepared in various styles. Choose a waterfront restaurant, savor the ocean breeze, and enjoy a seafood feast.

Saigonese Eatery

Perfect for any time of the day, a meal at Saigonese Eatery will not disappoint. Although it is true is a bit pricy, the food menu is wide, there are local options and western alternatives.

International Cuisine in Phu Quoc

I normally eat local food and I am passionate about street food, but I appreciate a nice sit-down restaurant every now and then, and especially after spending a few weeks in the same country, my Western tummy craves for international food. While in Phu Quoc I found these restaurants to be the best of the best.

Jo’s Cucina Italian Restaurant – The best Italian food I’ve tried outside Italy!

My dining experience at Jo’s Cucina was a culinary delight, featuring Italian-inspired dishes with a Vietnamese twist, Jo’s Cucina is JM Boutique Hotel’s signature restaurant.

I was so lucky I landed here. I wanted to try everything from the menu. I went for the Fettuccine, and believe me when I say, it was the best Fettucine I’ve eaten outside Italy. I’ll say more, it was even better than some places in Italy – and I’ve been in the country more than 7 times!

Their drinks menu is also very varied. As much as dark beer is not a synonym for Italy, I love a good stout and I saw that they had a local Vietnamese Porter on the menu, so I decided to treat myself with it instead of going for more Italian drinks. It was wonderful and was the perfect combo for my pasta.

I ended the meal with a delightful Tiramisu and Affogato. I still remember this meal as one of the best Western foods I had in Vietnam in my three months in the country.

Winston’s Burgers & Beer

One of the best Burger spots on the island. If you know me, you know I am always in search of a good burger and this one did not disappoint. They do homemade sauce and the fries were very good too.

Ganesh Indian Restaurant

For a taste of Indian cuisine, Ganesh Indian Restaurant offers a diverse menu featuring flavorful curries, tandoori dishes, and vegetarian options.
